Kerala Fish Fry

Every non-vegetarian should try this authentic Kerala recipe! The ginger, garlic and curry leaves gives it a very unique aroma! In the original recipe; ginger, garlic and the spices are ground to a fine paste along with salt and lime juice. It is then mixed with curry leaves and applied to the fish pieces. In this recipe; I have used ginger paste, garlic paste and spice powders. The taste is equally good!

Ingredients:

Fish pieces -1\2 kg
Ginger paste -1 tsp
Garlic paste -1\2 tsp
Chilli powder -2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Pepper powder -1\2 tsp
Lime juice -2 tsp
Curry leaves -1 sprig
Salt -as required
Oil -for frying

Method:

In a bowl, mix together ginger paste, garlic paste, lime juice, salt, curry leaves and the masala powders. Smear it on the fish pieces and keep aside for an hour. Fry it in oil (coconut oil is preferred) and serve with tomato slices and onion rings.

Looks so yummy. I make it the same way too. Inspite of trying various recipes with ground masalas and all that ,I always prefer this simple one.

I marinate the fish with all the ingredients you mentioned but minus the lime juice...

Sometimes I use just the powders without the ginger/garlic paste...guess simple things taste lovely!!!
